Inspiration Board :: Lulu Cowboy

I had the pleasure of attending a rodeo on Saturday - what more, my very best girlfriend and her husband were in the rodeo. SexyHusband and I straddled the fence, drank a few beers, and I took about three hundred pictures. It was a really nice way to spend one last sunny summer day.

When I saw the BBQ invitation on the Lulu Paper website it made me think of my Saturday, surrounded by cowboys, and how that would translate into a wedding...

The Bridal Guide by Darcy Miller + Me!

I am a hard girl to surprise. I've had three surprise birthday parties in my life; I knew about two and was slightly suspicious of the third. However, yesterday, I was browsing through my stat counter and I noticed some referrals from a site that I love and hold in the highest esteem - Darcy Miller's blog The Bridal Guide!

I was beyond surprised when I clicked through and found that she listed my little blog as suggested reading for wedding blogs! This was posted last Tuesday, the 16th of September. I'm fifth on the list...

Photobucket

Thank you so much Darcy. I'm flattered beyond belief and so honoured to have been included on such an impressive list!

Strippers? Or Xbox?

I have a secret and it’s been keeping me preoccupied, so I apologize for the lack of posts! Anyway…

This idea came up a couple of weeks ago when SexyHusband {SH} and I had a movie date night.

You know that point in the evening, when you're sitting in the theatre...
- after you’ve figured out where to put your purse
- before you turn off your cell phone
- after you decide if you should put on your sweater
- before you settle in for the previews, and
- after you figure out how to hold the popcorn so you don’t get butter on your pants?

That part where the theatre shows you commercials?

One ad came up and I wasn’t really paying attention, but SH poked me and said, “hey, what a great idea for a bachelor party!

How smart is he?

Photobucket

Instead of your guy getting together with his pals for a night of scantily clad women, an over abundance of tequila shots, and an excess of dirty debauchery, he and his buddies could play Madden NFL 09 on the big screen! Or, I suppose, any other game of their choosing. Apparently Rockband 2 was just released a couple of days ago…

Our local Cineplex Theatre offers Xbox Parties where a group can rent out an entire theatre, bring in a Xbox, a bunch of buddies and play away!

Photobucket

Now, I’m not a gamer, but isn’t that pretty cool? Research your local theatres to see if they offer something similar.

Thanks Babe!

Sunday Pics :: Shoes

One of the motivations for the start of this blog was to catalogue my favourite ‘must have’ wedding photos, or, “MHP” as I call them and, well… I haven’t really done that. So, welcome to “Sunday Pics”, where every Sunday I’ll post a favourite Must Have Photo.

"Shoe shots" are some of my very favourite photos. {1} because I love shoes {just ask SexyHusband} and {2} because the photographers out there get so creative. You'll see a lot of shoe shots here over time but this style is my current favourite. I love that it's both the bride and the groom's shoes. Just simple and sweet.

Real Wedding :: Angie + David

Jonathan Canlas is such a talented photographer. He is so careful to record every last, single, special detail of his weddings. If you go to his website {you'll find it under construction} so visit his blog {you really, really should} and expect to spend a generous amount of time there. It's a nice, nice place.

Of course, a photographer can make the most fantastic photos out of pretty much anything, but when your bride + groom are as adorable as these two, the colour palette will melt in your mouth, and the joy and fun of the event resonates off of the lens - how can you possibly go wrong?

LoveLove for NieNie

Three weeks ago, a wonderful and inspirational Blogger, Stephanie (Nie) of the NieNie Dialogues and her sweet husband Christian (Mr. Nielson) were in a tragic private airplane crash in Arizona.

They are being treated in the local hospital for their very serious injuries. I believe that today, they still remain in critical condition and they are in for months and months of recuperation.

Nie is one of those people that, when you encounter her - you wish you could be more like her. As a mother, as a woman, as a friend. Her blog was about her life as the mom to four children, the trials and tribulations of such, her great husband, sometimes the dog, the design and décor of their home – just life. Simple. Real. Fantastic. Life.

One of my very favourite posts was recent, she posted about a back-to-school-party she hosted for her two oldest kids – who does that!?! Nie does.

If you’d like to learn more you can visit Nie’s sister’s blog, c jane, she’s keeping us updated on their recovery. You can read the article published in the New York Times or view Nie’s siblings on the Today Show.

Photobucket

The only good thing that has come of this is the outpouring of support in prayers, notes, emails and fundraising. All of which need to continue, this family will need so much assistance to keep going through the recovery period that if your feel like your heart has been touched by Stephanie and Christian, click on the donate button on my sidebar. Or visit Nie Recovery.

Ribbon Wands

Close your eyes and remember back to when you were a little girl. You were dressed in one of your prettiest dresses; you looked down and noticed a wink of sunlight dancing on your new patent leather Mary-Janes. There was a slight breath of a breeze, the air smelled like sweet peas and you were twirling and twirling until you fell to the grass, giddy and giggly.

Do you remember that frolicsome and frivolous, precocious and pure, sweet and simple fun? That is what these ribbon wands remind me of.

What a wonderful gift for a little girl you know. Perhaps you have a flower girl or two you need the perfect gift for. Perhaps you need one for yourself, or the little girl in you.

The Ribbon Wand Shop is the creation of Nikki Workman. You can check out her shop on Etsy or visit her blog. She took a little break over the summer but her shop re-opened September 1st. Stay tuned for new and fabulous designs!

Wonderful Graffiti :: Ideas

In browsing around the Wonderful Graffiti website I found wedding inspriation almost everywhere, in every product line and gallery ::

Photobucket

Graffiti Monograms can be used in so many ways for your wedding :: they've used them here on clear acetate boxes to house your favour treats; they used them on a window in my earlier post about the New Chocolate Collection; I think they would also work well on wine glasses; on a charger if you had a clear plate to place over it...

This second image came from the Wonderful Graffiti Walls of Fame gallery, a selection of their favourite customer photos. This picture really stood out because this was the First Dance song at a wedding I was at recently. Wouldn't this be fantastic on the wall near your dance floor, or on the dance floor! {The song is Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks.}

Photobucket

This wordsearch from the Chalkboard Graffiti collection is my newest favourite thing. Love, love, love! {I want it for my kitchen.} This board has 'welcome' in red and then the thoughtful people at Wonderful Graffiti will work in the names of your friends or most likely dinner guests. Fantastic no? I'm thinking this would be an adorable surprise for your wedding guests if you had their names hidden in this word search - perhaps if you had a small guest list? Super sweet. I wonder if you could work in their table number... hmmm...

The big "Hello" is from Wonderful! Designs. And Wonderful! they are! This big "hello" or perhaps "welcome" could also greet your guests as they enter the reception.

Photobucket

This is another Graffiti Monogram on the chair. It would be great with your monogram. But wouldn't it also be great if you put your guest's name on their chair? Or on their wineglass? Very sophisticated place 'cards'!

The last image is a Blank Canvas. Wonderful Graffiti will print anything that you send them and create a canvas for you. The best thing about this product is that it's more permanent than the rest, whatever you choose to create can become art for your home.

This canvas has a recipe on it, which I love {of course} but I think the most "Wonderful" thing you could do would be to have your vows printed and put on canvas. Especially if you hand write them. Should you and your groom be keeping your vows a secret you could send them in separately and have the finished product sent to a trusted friend or your wedding planner. They would be great hung up at the welcome table, or behind you at the head table. Then, they can forever hang in your home, reminding you of those very precious words of love you spoke the day you were married. I'd love to have this done with our vows and have them hang in our bedroom.

I hope I've provoked some ideas or inspiration for you :: how would you use Wonderful Graffiti?

Wonderful Graffiti :: Hello, Big Butt!

Love. LovE. LOVE. This one.

Photobucket

I laughed out loud when I read this one! So funny. I 'spose it could be helpful if you're trying to lose weight for the wedding?? Just as a sidenote :: this would make a horrible gift!

Wonderful Graffiti :: Graffiti 3D

Wonderful Graffiti has more than just weddings items. I spent quite a bit of time browsing around their entire website and fell hopelessly in love with numerous items. My very, very favourite item is in the Graffiti 3D suite, the Dots Monogram. The design is made up of several brushed aluminum dots {pictured in the centre} ::

Photobucket

Pictured here :: Cocktails, anyone?, Dots Monogram, and Lucite Letters {there's more to see on the website.}

Wouldn't the 'Cocktails, anyone?" be perfectly fantastic for your cocktail hour?

Wonderful Graffiti :: New Chocolate Collection

Photobucket

Wonderful Graffiti has released their newest collection to make every detail about your wedding easy and uniform. Their Wonderful Graffiti Wedding section, devoted to everything wedding, has expanded to include a lot of fabulous things.

Pictured here :: Cupcake Toppers, Just Married Car Graffiti, Votive and Match Pairs, Banner Stands, Pulpit Banner, Hanging Treat Baskets, Wedding Date Canvas, Dance Floor Graffiti, Party Crackers, Monogram, Monogrammed Bottle Wraps, Luminary Trios.

They also have :: Chocolate Suckers with your monogram, Coasters, Tabletop Signs, Hanging Luminaries, Hanging Place Cards, Easel Signs, Napkins, Street Signs, and more!

There is a reason they call themselves wonderful!
