Swarovski Hair Jewellery

There is nothing like your wedding day to adorn yourself in crystals and shine; how many times in your life will you don a tiara? The clips, brooches, pins and headbands will also do just fine. All of the pieces are Swarovski.

Sk*rted

I know this isn't green but...

I would like to take a quick moment to thank Karey, who is the publisher of a great blog called Mackin Ink and a Design & Crafts Editor for sk*rt.

She saw the picture by evoke photography I posted last Thursday and it moved her enough to post it on sk*rt. This emotional moment when a father 'gives his daugter away' is currently in the lead for the most popular of the week!

So a big thank you to Karey and a great big hello and welcome to all those people that have been directed here via sk*rt.

Here's the picture again.

Centrepiece Idea :: Green is Cute!

Since it was Earth Day yesterday I decided that I'll only post green or "green" things until Friday.

Wouldn't this be the greatest tablescape/centrepiece for a tropics wedding? I'm in love with the little palm tree in the sand. And, the bamboo "runner" is fab.

I Thee Snap

I'm not a big fan of disposable cameras at weddings, but only because I developed some for a friend several years ago and saw waaaayy too many "inapproriate" photos taken by the groom's younger brother and friends {gasp!} {eww.} {what is...? oh. Oh! oh no! eww.}

But if you were going to do it, could it be any easier? "Click" on I Thee Snap for more info.

Home is where the Heart is

If I were getting married, I would buy this doormat and place it at the front door! Then you could use it again every year for Valentine's day, your anniversary, birthday parties... cute.

Reverie by Melissa Sweet - Spring 2009

I really like the long lean lines of the new Reverie Collection by Melissa Sweet for Priscilla of Boston. Apparently available in stores August 2008.

Is that pockets I see on the first dress? I love pockets!

Reem Acra Bridal Collection Fall 2008

When my sister and I were little girls we would sit with the Sears catalogue splayed out on our laps and play a game. You had to choose one thing from each page that you would want; whether they were horrific girdles or the cutest shoes. I’m not sure what was more difficult, choosing the prettiest of the awful or carefully deliberating which of the lovely you would choose.

Should I have to choose one dress from the Reem Acra Fall 2008 Bridal Collection it would be painstakingly dreadful, but, if I have to… I’d choose the third one in the first row.

Real Wedding :: Chad + Lynse

I love a wedding with character – and this urban affair fits that description. The bride and groom were to be married outside but at the last minute, due to heavy weather warnings, had to move things inside. Their back up location was an empty warehouse, which they decorated with a plethora of hanging lights and lanterns, and glowing candles which lined the aisle and the perimeter of the function. Not knowing what their outdoor alternative would have looked like, I can’t say for certain, but I think I like this better! The mood is romantic and dusky, the low lighting bringing intimacy to the small affair. The spatter of green highlights evoke the charm and personality of the bride and groom; the grooms shirt, the unique cake, and please take note of the wonderful detail on the bride’s shoes – their wedding date embroidered on the heel.

The fabulous photography is credited to Gray Photograph based out of Nashville, TN.

Snow Day

Should have been a snow day. The first picture is of my commute. I really wish you could see the stuck and abandoned vehicles that I was about to run into; it was like driving through an obstacle course to get up the hill. I love my vehicle!

The second is a picture a friend took when I got out of my suv. That's mine, right behind me, with the clear windshield. And that's me running through about 6-7 inches of snow (eep! my purse looks huge!).

When I left my house there wasn't one single flake falling.
Crazy, crazy weather.

Destination Welcome Bags

Peonies and Lotus and Furochic – Oh My!

I’m in love with another shop, Jenny Wren Paperie. I even love saying the name. Jenny Wren Paperie. Based in Victoria, B.C., Jennifer, the owner and designer, infuses nature with an Asian flair in her patterns. Her online store is a paper buffet of goodness featuring cards, notebooks, gift tags and more. However the item that I’m excited to share with you is in her Furochic collection.

Furochic is based on a Japanese art form of wrapping purchases and embellishing important gifts with a piece of fabric; I featured furoshiki in an earlier post.

All that said and shared, I’m most excited about the pictures below, the Furochic wrapped into a handbag with bamboo handles. Wouldn’t this just be the perfect presentation to welcome your friends and family at a destination wedding? Can you imagine how impressed your guests would be if they walked up to their room and this was on the door to greet them? Can you hear the “ooh”, “ahh”, “giggle”, “giggle”, “wow”.

Photobucket

And. It is reusable. And. The fabric can be used as a head wrap or sarong. And. It’s eco-friendly. And. It would be easy to pack. And. It would be easy to assemble. And. They’re really, really pretty!

Real Wedding :: Megha + Chakshu

Actually, it’s more like a Real Portrait Session as the couple were married in December; however, both outfits were from their wedding.

Let me first bring you into the experience. Rob and Lauren are the The Wedding Travelers, this is a division of their photography business they have conceived to marry (pun intended) their two predominant passions – photographing weddings and travel.

On January 2nd of this year they left on the inaugural trip for The Wedding Travelers in search of experience and knowledge about the different cultures and traditions of weddings in South East Asia, specifically Vietnam and India.

Ironically, I’m posting this on their last day in Asia; they should be well on their way home right now. But they have so much more to share and post that the blog will still be active for quite some time.

That said, this post is to share a spectacular photo session they shot at the Taj Mahal.... yes, that's the Taj Mahal! They did two shoots with Megha and Chakshu, in two different locations, in two different outfits. Amazing. Glamorous. Epic.

We’ll start with the second session which was shot in New Delhi at the Lodi Gardensto.
