The Truth Hurts :: Wedding Cards

You know how you can never find the perfect card? And even if you do, it just sugar coats what you're really thinking? These "Footnote Collection" cards by Old Tom Foolery might just say exactly what you have in mind.*

The next one contains profanity (the 'f' word) - sorry! I just thought is was so funny. And, so appropriate for some!

{I altered this card, it actually says the real word}

*while I find these cards amusing, I would never actually send one!**

**well... maybe!

Real Wedding :: Natasha + Kyle

This is the last installment of Natasha + Kyle's wedding photos {insert pouty face}, but these are some of my favourites - the day-after photo shoot. I couldn't believe it when Kirstie told me it was her first one. Can you imagine what she'll be doing in a year from now?

Words from Kirstie, "This was the first time I photographed a day after session and I loved it! It meant we could go to locations and try things that we weren't able to do on the wedding day and the entire time was so much more relaxed than a rushed scheduled wedding day is for photographs.

Natasha wanted the photos to be a little more relaxed so we went without her veil or Kyle's jacket and tie. The dress was not "trashed" or dirtied or harmed in anyway and we were able to get some of my favourite photographs."

I received the lovliest email from Natasha this morning, she thanking me! I don't often post too much self-appreciation, but what the heck,... "toot, toot!"

Good morning Lisa,

I just wanted to say how thrilled my husband and I are that you have chosen us to be featured on your blog. During our wedding planning process we frequented your blog for ideas. Our wedding would not have been a success with out all your tips and tricks.

I feel very honoured to be on your site to feature Kirstie's amazing work. She is truly talented and we feel that she completely captured our day.

Thank you so much and I hope that my wedding proves to be as much of an inspiration to other brides as the many other blogs on your site were an inspiration to me.

Thank you again,
Sincerely,

Natasha and Kyle

Thank you to you, Natasha + Kyle, and, of course, Kirstie, for thinking of Blush.

Real Wedding :: Natasha + Kyle

These are my favourite shots from Natasha + Kyle's day - and, as far as I'm concerned, what makes Kirstie so desirable as an event photograher.

Kirstie never ceases to amaze me when it comes to injecting something fun or different that will make your photos unique. She is such a special talent.

Real Wedding :: Natasha + Kyle

I am so excited for today’s post! A few days ago my Blackberry buzzed and when I checked my email I was absolutely thrilled! Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl Photographs emailed me and offered to share some photos from a recent wedding with Blush. I’ve featured Kirstie’s work a couple of times before, here {some fantastic engagement photos} and here {when she was published in Martha Stewart Weddings and I’m delighted to do it because she’s such a wonderful artist and I love everything she does.

Kirstie sent me photos from Natasha + Kyle’s wedding which makes me even more excited to share these pictures – it’s a local wedding, featuring the majestic Rocky Mountains, about 45 minutes from my house.

This is what Kirstie had to say about the lovely couple… “Natasha was a DIY bride whose attention to detail created a unique wedding. The candy buffet was a very popular and guests dug in immediately. Her flip flops on the dance floor were a huge hit with the girls wearing high heels who opted for comfort to get their groove on. The wedding party presented a high energy fantastic practiced dance to entertain and surprise the guests.

Cakegirls

I’m a huge fan of cake. And, therefore, suffice it to say, that I’m a huge fan of anyone that makes cake. The Cakegirls are a wonderful example of exceptional cake makers.

I visited their website over the weekend and I was thrilled to see that they’ve updated it. It’s beautiful, easy to navigate and, the best part, they’ve added some more photos of their delectable and fashionable cakes.

Brides on Lifetime

Photobucket

You may already know about the Brides magazine Something Pink initiative, where the publication asked 21 designers to create custom gowns in a rose-colored theme, with proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

What you may not know, is that one of these sumptuous gowns hit Hollywood! The gown by Anjolique made an appearance in the Renée Zellweger-produced Lifetime Original Movie Living Proof, about a UCLA doctor who pioneered the development of a breast cancer drug treatment in the late eighties. The film premiered on October 18th.

The Something Pink dresses by such designers as Vera Wang, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, and Carolina Herrera, were photographed for the November/December issue of BRIDES, which was on newsstands October 14. The gowns went on sale mid-October nationwide and for those brides with more traditional tastes, sales of the ivory and white versions will benefit BCRF as well.

So many of us capture photos of our engagement rings and our wedding bands but I have never seen a picture quite like this one; capturing the rings of three generations of women. Love.

Gray Photography took this photo and the first word that comes to mind is brilliant. I imagine it's a continuous (yet delightful) challenge for photographers to come up with something new, something different, and I think this is genius. If I were this bride I would be absolutely thrilled with this shot!

Martha Stewart Weddings

Goodness gracious! It's been a week since I last posted and I must apologize - I've had some very exciting things going on and I just haven't found the time.

I couldn't help but post this today though, the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings will be on newstands today!

Photobucket

The reason why I'm so excited about this particular issue is because, according to the fabulous Darcy Miller, it's all about personalization:

“The most memorable weddings are those that truly reflect the personalities of the bride and groom. Everything between these covers is devoted to tips on how to make the day ‘feel like you.’” ~ Darcy Miller, Editorial Director

Can't wait!
