I adore the trend of brides wearing fabulous shoes under their wedding dresses - I did it myself! Of course, the traditional bride will look nothing less than lovely in her white satin pumps. But, why not look divine? And daring? And, the likelihood of wearing them again increases greatly.

To Veil or Not to Veil

A reader, Serena, emailed and asked my opinion on veils – to wear or not to wear?

I like the idea of a bride wearing a veil as there are not many days in one’s life that one can wear a veil and, in my opinion, they epitomize the bridal ensemble.

Of course, the best part about wearing a veil is having the option to take it off, so, at the very least, give yourself the choice.

Not one to post without photos, here are eight reasons to wear a veil. At least for a little while.

Carrie Weston Jewellery

I know that Carrie Weston has been around for a while and I know that she’s been blogged about copious times in the past but I just can’t help myself.

If I were a bride, right now, I’d by myself all three of these rings. Why all three you ask? Because wouldn’t I be fabulous?!?



She describes this design as her “signature hit”. It was originally designed for her brother to propose with. I wish I had a sister that designed jewellery. {Hint, hint Jodi!}

These next two pieces would be perfect for attendants’ gifts. Wouldn’t the butterfly rings be lovely perched on the fingers of your maids? And what guy wouldn’t get a kick out of hot dog cufflinks?

I absolutely love it when a bride kicks aside the average, yanks up her dress and slides on some fabulous shoes; shoes that are bold or flirty, fancy or girly. I wanted shoes that I could wear after my wedding day – what on earth was I going to do with “almost” white satin shoes? So I wore a pair of Nine West shoes, they were lacy and a splendid pink and tied around the ankle. They were beautiful, comfortable and I felt sweet and sexy just wearing them. I daresay they were a favourite part of my entire wedding ensemble. And, I’ve worn them countless times since, on our honeymoon, out to dinner; I’ve even worn them with some fabulous dark jeans for a night out with the girls.
